Join us at the Scottish Snowsport Festival from midday on the 17th December 2011 to see Scotland’s elite freestyle snow athletes – on both skis and snowboards – battle it out for a combined prize fund of over £1,000.
The Scottish Freestyle Invitational and a new event within the festival, The Nordic Cross – Super Sprint are contemporary elite competitions with the top British athletes invited to take part.
Alongside these two elite competitions we will encourage participation for all by creating opportunities for everyone to have their own snowsports experience. There will be a purpose built artificial hill for all to enjoy - even if it’s their first time - and for those who prefer the Nordic disciplines, roller ski tutorials and taster sessions will be on offer.
With DJs and winter sports exhibitor’s on site and with the Edinburgh’s Christmas Celebrations next door including the German Market and Ice Rink, a vibrant atmosphere and fun day out is assured for both athletes and spectators.
“This type of event has been really successful in many winter destinations around the world including the USA and New Zealand,” said David Rutledge on behalf of Snowsport Scotland. “Following two amazing winters, where the snow in the Highlands was often being better than some overseas destinations, we felt it was time to position Scotland on the international snowsports and winter festival scene.”
The real snow for this event will be brought in from SNO!zone Scotland (Glasgow) and without SNO!zone Scotlands support and help from our event partners including Ski- Scotland, Visit Scotland, Event Scotland, Edinburgh’s Christmas Celebrations this event could not take place.
