Cross Country Performance
The Performance Pathway
Our XC performance programme supports athletes transitioning from train-to-train into train-to-compete. The annual programme consists of summer and winter camp training opportunities, including Project Lillehammer, and training planning support for our Snowsport Scotland Performance Squad. The Performance Squad comprises Youth, Junior and U23 athletes gaining experience training abroad and competing in international races and championships.
Project Lillehammer
Project Lillehammer is a home nations performance programme available to our Performance Squad and their counterparts in the rest of Great Britain. The project is run by our Performance Coach for Cross-country Skiing, Alex Standen. Starting in 2019, the project aims to provide an alternative route for athletes looking to transition from youth through to senior cross-country ski racing. The project provides a winter base in Lillehammer, Norway to extend and optimise time on snow and to provide access to high quality, frequent, local racing in preparation for major events.
