DOUBLE CRYSTAL GLOBE: KIRSTY MUIR’S INCREDIBLE RISE TO THE TOP THIS SEASON
Kirsty Muir has capped off a sensational 2025–26 season by securing two Crystal Globes, confirming her status as one of the world’s leading freestyle skiers.
The 21-year-old Scot sealed the Slopestyle Crystal Globe in Silvaplana, finishing second in the final World Cup event of the season. Competing in the Swiss resort, Muir delivered another composed and technically assured run to claim silver behind home favourite Sarah Höfflin.
That result was enough to take her season points total to 280, comfortably ahead of Elena Gaskell, who finished second in the standings, 69 points apart.
Muir’s consistency has been the defining feature of her season. By standing on the podium at every Slopestyle World Cup event enetered this winter, she demonstrated not only her technical quality but also her ability to deliver under pressure across a demanding international schedule.
Her season was built on standout victories, with three World Cup Slopestyle gold medals. She also added a Big Air World Cup win, highlighting her strength across multiple disciplines.
Beyond the World Cup circuit, Muir made a major impact on the sport’s biggest stages. She claimed Slopestyle gold and Big Air silver at the X Games, one of the most prestigious titles in freestyle skiing.
Earlier in the year, she came agonisingly close to Olympic glory at the 2026 Winter Olympics, finishing fourth in slopestyle and big air and narrowly missing out on medals.
The slopestyle title adds to her Overall Park & Pipe Crystal Globe, meaning Muir ends the season with two of the sport’s most prestigious wins. A Crystal Globe is awarded to the athlete who finishes top of the overall World Cup standings across an entire season, recognising consistency and performance across multiple events rather than a single competition.
In doing so, she becomes the first British woman to win Crystal Globes in both disciplines, a landmark achievement for British freestyle skiing.
