GLENSHEE LOOKS BACK ON MILESTONE WINTER WITH RETURN OF KEY SKIING AREA

Glenshee Ski Centre has reflected on a successful 2025/26 winter season, marking a welcome return to stronger visitor numbers, competitive events and improved snow conditions after several challenging years.

The season saw the return of ski races, increased participation from school groups and the successful hosting of freeride events organised by Snowsports Scotland. Glenshee also welcomed enough snow for the annual UK Snow Running event, organised by DYM LAB, as well as hosting night skiing sessions for race training groups and the public.

Milestone Achievements

One of the centre's biggest achievements came in late February when access was restored to Corrie Fionn for the first time in four to five years. During the February half-term, Glenshee experienced one of its busiest periods, opening 15 lifts and welcoming around 2,500 skiers on 14 February. Across the full season, the resort operated for 74 days and welcomed approximately 52,000 skiers and snowboarders.

Investing in the Future

Looking to the future, Glenshee says it has ambitious plans to further develop both its winter and summer offering. However, the centre notes that a lack of funding presents challenges, particularly as it falls outside the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) funding area.

Despite these challenges, investment continues. The centre has recruited additional full-time staff to support maintenance and improvements, upgraded hire equipment ahead of the 2026/27 season and expanded its seasonal team for the summer chairlift operation. The chairlift, open daily from May until mid-October (weather permitting), welcomes sightseers, walkers and mountain bikers, while the café remains open seven days a week.

Looking ahead, visitors can expect a number of summer events, including car rallies organised by external groups. Plans are also underway for more night skiing events during the 2026/27 winter season, alongside the return of the UK Snow Running event in early 2027.

Glenshee concluded its seasonal reflection by thanking its customers for their continued support and recognising the dedication of its staff, expressing optimism for another snowy and successful winter ahead.
