Snowsport Scotland Seeks New Alpine Director

Snowsport Scotland has opened applications for the vital role of Non-Executive Director – Alpine, a key governance position responsible for guiding and overseeing all Alpine skiing activity across the organisation. This strategic appointment aims to strengthen Snowsport Scotland’s Alpine pathway, support club and coach development, and ensure effective oversight of competitions and squad selections.

Working closely with the Board and senior Alpine staff, the appointed Director will provide high-level insight, independent governance, and support across all areas of Alpine programming. This includes contributing to coach education and qualifications, nurturing performance pathways, offering guidance on selection and appeal processes, and ensuring competitions align with national standards.

The position carries a time commitment of up to 10 hours per month and is ideal for an experienced individual with deep knowledge of UK Alpine racing, including club activities, development pathways, and national performance programmes. Previous Board or senior leadership experience in sport or the public/private sectors is essential, as is an understanding of the legal duties of a Company Director.

“This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Alpine sport in Scotland,” said Iain Ramsay-Clapham, interim CEO of Snowsport Scotland. “We’re looking for someone who can bring strategic vision, integrity, and deep sector knowledge to ensure that Alpine skiing continues to thrive across all levels, from grassroots to elite.”

Applicants are expected to bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and a collaborative spirit aligned with the Nolan Principles of public life. A comprehensive induction and ongoing training opportunities will be provided.

Applications are open from Monday 2nd June until Sunday 22nd June 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview, and the final appointment is subject to membership approval at the Annual General Meeting. The role is initially for a three-year term, with the option of a further three-year extension upon re-election.
