SIMPSON AND POTH CLAIM SILVER IN THRILLING ALPINE COMBINED

Britain celebrated a standout day on the slopes yesterday as Neil Simpson and his guide Rob Poth secured a silver medal in the Men’s Vision Impaired Alpine Combined, delivering an impressive performance across both the Super-G and Slalom disciplines.

The duo showed exceptional speed and coordination in the Super-G before maintaining their composure in a challenging Slalom course to finish second overall. Simpson, skiing with guidance from Poth’s precise calls over the radio headset, produced one of the most technically controlled runs of the day, earning Great Britain a place on the podium.

The Alpine Combined event tests athletes across two very different disciplines, speed and technical skiing, making consistency across both runs crucial.

In the Women’s Vision Impaired Alpine Combined Menna Fitzpatrick and Scottish guide Katie Guest finished ninth overall after battling through the demanding course conditions. The experienced partnership showed resilience in both segments of the race, continuing their long history of representing Great Britain at the highest level of para-alpine skiing.

It was a more difficult day for another British entrant, Fred Warburton, whose race ended prematurely. Warburton suffered a fall during his run, and he and his Scottish guide James Hannan were unfortunately unable to finish the event.
