FIRST AID
To maintain a Snowsport Scotland Coach, Leader or Instructor qualification licence, all members must hold a valid and current First Aid qualification.
FIRST AID REQUIREMENTS
To meet the licensing requirements, your First Aid certificate must:
Be a minimum of 16 hours or 2 days in duration.
Be in-person training.
Be current and valid at the time of licensing.
Please note that hybrid or online First Aid courses are not accepted for Snowsport Scotland licensing purposes.
WHY FIRST AID TRAINING IS REQUIRED
As a Coach, Leader or Instructor, you may be required to act as a first responder in an emergency situation within a snowsports environment, including mountain and artificial slope settings.
Snowsport Scotland strongly encourages members to complete First Aid training that reflects the outdoor and environmental hazards commonly encountered in snowsports settings. Outdoor-focused training provides valuable experience in managing incidents in remote locations and challenging weather conditions.
Our recommended course is the:
BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF SKI PATROLLERS (BASP) OUTDOOR EMERGENCY FIRST AID COURSE
This two-day course is designed specifically for those working in outdoor environments and snowsports settings. Snowsport Scotland members also receive a discount for this course - you can find details in the Members Hub.
Please Note: The First Aid training required for Snowsport Scotland licensing may differ from the training required by your employer or deployment organisation. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the requirements of both.
