HISTORY MAKER ANNA PRYCE JUST MISSES OUT ON QUALIFICATION
Anna Pryce delivered a landmark performance in the Cross Country Sprint Classic, finishing 32nd and recording the best-ever result by a British woman at a Winter Games. Pryce narrowly missed out on progressing to the heats, clocking 3:49.23—just 1.65 seconds shy of qualification, but produced a composed and powerful race in her strongest discipline.
Earlier in the day, James Clugnet was the first athlete out on course in the Men’s Sprint Classic, setting the early benchmark before being chased down by Norway’s Erik Valnes Amundsen, who stormed through the course from behind. Clugnet went on to finish 45th overall in a tightly contested field. While sprinting is a key strength for the British skier, the classic technique is not his preferred style, with Clugnet typically stronger in skate sprint events.
Pryce and Clugnet will next compete in the 10km interval start free events on Thursday and Friday, lining up alongside Andrew Musgrave as the Scottish cross-country athletes continue their campaign.
