SCOTTISH SNOWSPORTS WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

Scottish snowsports athletes enjoyed another standout week of international competition, delivering podium finishes, World Cup victories, and encouraging comeback performances across Europe and North America.

At the IBU Para Biathlon World Cup in Notschrei, Germany, Scott Meenagh demonstrated resilience and consistency. Despite suffering a rifle malfunction during the Individual race, Meenagh bounced back strongly to secure 6th place in the Sprint Pursuit, before finishing the competition with a solid 7th place in the Sprint.

In Aspen, USA, Kirsty Muir produced one of the performances of the week. After an unexpected delay that left her stuck on a chairlift for 30 minutes, Muir regrouped to top qualification and deliver a sensational finals run. Her score of 80.62 earned her gold in the Slopestyle World Cup, marking the second Slopestyle World Cup victory of her career.

The Para Alpine Development Team also impressed at the Slovakian National Championships in Jasna. Dom Allen claimed two Slalom titles alongside a silver medal in Giant Slalom. Hester Poole and Ali Hall dominated their events, taking gold in both Giant Slalom races and the Slalom, while Sam Cozens and Adam Hall secured two Giant Slalom bronze medals and two Slalom victories.

Elsewhere, Andrew Young continued his return to form, reaching his first quarter-final in a significant period at the Norwegian National Championships, a positive milestone in his season.

The week concluded with World Cup success in Para Alpine Downhill, where Neil Simpson and Andrew Simpson secured bronze, then a day later Neil Simpson and Rob Poth, also claimed World Cup bronze in the Para Alpine Downhill World Cup.

With strong performances across freestyle, alpine, and para disciplines, it was another successful and encouraging week for Scottish snowsports on the global stage.
