SCOTTISH CROSS COUNTRY SKIERS ENJOY BREAKTHROUGH WEEK ON WORLD CUP CIRCUIT

Scottish cross-country skiers have enjoyed an outstanding week on the international stage, with career-best performances and top-ten finishes at the prestigious Tour de Ski.

Clugnet Claims Career-Best 5th Place

The standout result of the week came from James Clugnet, who stormed to an impressive 5th-place finish in the 5 km mass-start stage of the Tour de Ski. Racing aggressively against a world-class field, Clugnet’s performance marked the best individual World Cup result of his career and represented one of the strongest British men’s results in recent seasons.

Musgrave Delivers Trademark Consistency

Andrew Musgrave once again demonstrated his reliability amongst the cross-country elite, recording a series of strong performances across the Tour de Ski stages. His week included a top-10 finish in the 10 km mass-start free race, and an overall standing of 15th, reinforcing his status as one of Britain’s most successful ever cross-country skiers.

Strong Depth Across the British Squad

Elsewhere, Team Snowsport Scotland athletes including Gabriel Gledhill, Tabitha Williams and Anna Pyrce gained valuable World Cup experience at their Tour de Ski debut, during a demanding week of racing. The wider squad’s presence across multiple events highlights the depth now developing within British cross-country skiing.

Momentum Building Toward the Olympics

With the Tour de Ski concluded, attention now turns to the remaining World Cup events of the season and final preparations for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Clugnet’s breakthrough 5th place and Musgrave’s continued top-tier performances provide clear evidence that Scottish athletes are not only competing, but contending, at the highest level.
