Scottish Snowsports Weekly Round-Up

It’s been another outstanding week on the international stage for Scottish snowsports athletes, with podium-challenging performances across biathlon, freeski and cross-country skiing.

Scott Meenagh produced a series of superb performances across a busy week of international racing. In the Biathlon World Cup Sprint, Meenagh finished an exceptional 5th place, right on the edge of the podium despite a huge crash that snapped his ski mid-race — a testament to his resilience and race craft. Meenagh also impressed on the para-biathlon circuit, securing 11th place in the Individual and 8th in the Sprint at the IBU Para Biathlon World Cup, rounding off a strong week of results across multiple formats and competitions.

In freeski, Kirsty Muir continued her upward momentum with a confident run, landing her right double-10 to claim a top-10 finish. She narrowly missed out on finals by just 0.75 points, highlighting both her quality and how fine the margins are at the top of the sport. Chris McCormick finished 33rd as he gained further valuable experience against a stacked World Cup field.

James Clugnet delivered a standout performance in the Men’s Sprint Free in Davos, charging to a top-10 finish in what was a thrilling display of high-speed sprint racing at the Swiss resort.

Scottish cross-country skiers also did well in the 10km Interval Start Free, with several strong performances against world-class opposition. Andrew Musgrave led the charge, skiing powerfully throughout the race to finish an excellent 6th place, once again confirming his place among the world’s elite distance skiers. Andrew Young battled hard to claim 41st, while James Clugnet, racing on tired legs following his exhausting top-10 Sprint Free the day before, dug deep to finish 72nd.

Making just their second ever World Cup appearances, Anna Pryce and Tabitha Williams continued to step up confidently on the international stage. The pair opened the week with a strong 17th-place finish in the World Cup Team Event, marking another milestone in their early World Cup careers.

Individually, Anna Pryce showed clear progression, finishing 35th in the Individual Start Free and 46th in the 10km Interval Start Free, a significant improvement on last week’s results. Tabitha Williams also climbed the rankings, producing a solid performance to take 52nd in the 10km Interval Start Free, continuing her steady rise.
