£11K FUNDING BOOST FOR INSTRUCTORS AND COACHES
Snowsport Scotland is celebrating a major boost for snowsports after securing £11,000 in Coach Education Subsidy funding from sportscotland for the upcoming year.
The funding will continue to power the organisation’s Women & Girls Coach Education Subsidy programme and will also introduce dedicated support for young people entering instructing pathways for the very first time.
This investment is a key part of Snowsport Scotland’s “Carve Your Path” campaign, a national initiative designed to inspire more people to step into the snowsports workforce, and to support them as they begin or progress along their journey.
SUPPORTING WOMEN AND GIRLS
The Women & Girls programme is focused on breaking down barriers and opening up more opportunities for women to thrive in coaching and instructing roles.
With up to 50% funding available towards course fees and associated costs, the initiative helps tackle financial pressures while also supporting wider challenges such as travel, expenses, and childcare.
Eligible qualifications include:
UKSS Level 1 & 2 Ski or Snowboard Instructor qualifications
UKSS Level 1, 2 & 3 Alpine or Park & Pipe Coach qualifications
SSS Level 1, 2 & 3 Cross Country Coach qualifications
NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
For the first time, funding will also be available to support young people (under 25) to take their first steps into instructing.
This new strand is all about creating accessible entry points into the sport, helping young people gain valuable qualifications, and building confidence through clear progression pathways.
Eligible qualifications include:
UKSS Level 1 & 2 Ski or Snowboard Instructor qualifications
SSS Level 1 Cross Country Foundation Coach qualification
CARVING THE FUTURE OF SNOWSPORTS
Across both programmes, successful applicants can receive up to 50% funding towards qualification costs, making it easier than ever to get started or take the next step in coaching.
By connecting with our Carve Your Path campaign, this funding is designed to support people at every stage, from those taking their very first step into instructing, to those looking to progress further up the pathway.
As well as opening doors for individuals, the initiative will help grow the number of qualified instructors across Scotland, strengthen clubs and facilities, and support a thriving, resilient snowsports workforce.
