Donated Funds Help to Buy New Timing Kit
Thanks to the generous support of membership donations, Snowsport Scotland is acquiring a brand-new timing kit from manufacturer FDS, marking a significant step forward in the delivery and accuracy of events across all disciplines — including banked slalom, para and adaptive competitions, and alpine racing. The new FDS system is approved for race timing at all levels of competition up to FIS events, and will facilitate reliable wireless and wired timing for a wide range of events, from club races to national championships.
"This is a much-needed upgrade for our event delivery," said Iain Ramsay-Clapham, CEO at Snowsport Scotland. "Accurate and reliable timing is essential for the sport. It will not only give peace of mind to our racers, but also our race officials, that we have the latest technology in place. Our timing systems are an important resource that not only benefit Snowsport Scotland but also the many clubs that make use of it for their own club championship events”.
In addition to its use at Snowsport Scotland organised events, the timing kit will be made available for use by registered clubs and organisations for their own races and competitions. This will ensure a broader impact, empowering clubs to deliver more professional and smoothly-run events without the barrier of costly infrastructure.
The new timing system is set to debut at upcoming spring events and an open training session on how to use the new system is planned during May. For anyone interested to find out more please contact ossian@snowsportscotland.org.
