SCOTS SELECTED TO TEAM GB

Five Olympians to be Proud of…

It is with immense pride we name the five Scottish athletes selected to Team GB for the upcoming Milano Cortina Winter Games that run from 6th – 22nd February. Join us in recognising the enormity of these selections which represent the pinnacle of many years of hard work by each athlete, their coaches, clubs, parents and support network.

Kirsty Muir (Freeski – Big Air and Slopestyle)

Aberdeen’s Kirsty Muir has stunned the freeski world after her comeback from injury last season. After debuting as Team GB’s youngest Winter Olympian in Beijing 2022, she has delivered landmark performances this season, grabbing multiple World Cup victories, including big air gold in China and a slopestyle win in Aspen, Colorado.

Muir made her Olympic debut in 2022 at age 17, reaching finals in both big air and slopestyle; she now is set to go to her second Games with strong form and multiple World Cup podiums.

Chris McCormick (Freeski - Big Air and Slopestyle)

Bearden’s Chris McCormick, also competing on the freeski World Cup tour, has been active in top-level competitions this season, earning valuable World Cup starts that have contributed toward his qualification spot on Team GB. After narrowly missing selection in the last Winter Games, we are thrilled to see him selected to the team this time around!

Andrew Musgrave (Cross-Country Skiing)

Huntly’s Andrew Musgrave remains one of Britain’s most accomplished cross-country skiers. A multiple-time Olympian (including Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022), Musgrave has delivered consistent World Cup performances, including strong top-10 finishes and a 6th place at the Tour de Ski stage this season.

Anna Pryce (Cross-Country Skiing)

Rising star Anna Pryce has marked her key career milestone by stepping onto the World Cup and international stage for the first time this season. To have achieved Olympic Qualification Standards (OQS) within a few months is an incredible achievement and has been an important step towards her selection for Team GB.

James Clugnet (Cross-Country Skiing)

Snowsport Scotland and Highland Nordic member James Clugnet has progressed through the GB system, having grown up in the French Alps. He represented Team GB at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and comes in as a strong competitor in the sprint event.

This season, he delivered one of his best career World Cup results with a 5th-place finish in a Tour de Ski mass-start stage, showcasing his rising competitiveness at the sport’s top level.
